CARDIGAN BAR BEER BLOG!!
Our Beer Bogan seems to be on a roll, or maybe they just heard about our excellent new amber offerings on tap! Whatever the reason, the Bogan was quick to arrive to sample our new seasonal Sea Legs double IPA. All of the Sea Legs’ beers are popular but their NEIIPA has proved a hit with our customers and staff alike.
So for everyone who may wonder what the fuss is about, let the Beer Bogan’s ranting begin!

Wow, new beers two weeks in a row! One of my bar fly friends alerted me to the fact that the Cardigan Bar had a seasonal New England Double IPA (NEIIPA) on tap, so I quickly rolled down the hill to Sandgate craft beer central so cadge a taste or three.
I was thrilled to find the new beer was another of the excellent Sea Legs brews. For a brewery less than three years old they appear to maintain high standards with both their standard range and their seasonal and specialist beers.
But beware – the keg was being given a solid work out when I sampled it, so hurry down to the Cardigan Bar if you wish to sup on the:
‘Sea Legs’ Kid Gloves 3.0 NEIIPA – ABV 8%
My lip-smacking began almost from when the Kid Gloves 3.0 NEIIPA was poured. It has a beautiful clear amber colour and an almost fruity aroma from the balance between malt and hops that is a feature of this beer. The first sip was not a disappointment either, the Kid Gloves is very smooth, with a bit of sweetness on the front of the palate, long on the hops taste, and a lovely slightly bitter finish.
For a NEIIPA it is an easy drinking beer and a great entry level IPA for those who normally favour less bitter brews. But don’t be fooled, at 8.0 % ABV you will feel the effects of this lovely drop after the first schooner…..
For once the recommendation of my fellow bar flies and the Cardigan Bar owners lived up to the hyperbole – the Sea Legs Kid Gloves 3.0 NEIIPA is definitely a delicious, delectable drop!
The Verdict:
The Sea Legs Kid Gloves 3.0 NEIIPA is as good, if not better, than the Nitro Milk Stout from the same brewer that was previously reviewed on the Beer Bogan blog, Sea Legs Brewing is destined to become a Brisbane success story if they can maintain this level of excellence. This is an absolute belter of a beer and a great seasonal addition to the Cardigan Bar’s excellent range of small batch kegs on tap. Let’s hope the Cardigan Bar can cadge another keg of the Kid Gloves 3.0 to keep the joy flowing into the holiday season.
Enjoy this beer, and the taxi ride home!!
Rating:
A very high 4.5 out of 5 ducks
(and could have been a 5 if I drank any more of it….)
